Who am I? ...
The concept of the self is an interesting one. How does one define the self? The self is always changing and is impacted by many factors. I tried to determine these factors and their effects for myself using photography, digital collage, and pigment printing. Through this experience, I learned that, at least for me, I am the accumulation of all my thoughts, feelings, memories, experiences, successes, failures, history, morals, hopes, fears, and more. I want viewers to feel more comfortable exploring their own sense of self and possibly learn something about themselves just by looking at my work. This is also why I chose photography as my medium and nature as my subject. Nature is something everyone is familiar and mostly comfortable with. Through this process, I realized that in defining myself, I was also defining what I believe is beautiful. I found that bright, ephemeral colors sharply contrasted with silhouettes of stationary objects are what I consider to be the prettiest compositions.
