Influences Throughout the Generations
Who or what inspires you?
I believe that who people look up to, both as children and as adults, shapes their identity, molds their opinions, and influences the way they live their lives. I think that my inspirational figures from both my childhood and my early adulthood have molded me into the person I have become today.
In my Independent Study I want to explore an individual's notion of inspirational figures such as heroes, role models, and idols. My goal is to investigate a broad range of age groups, genders, ethnicities, and occupations. This broad generational range and gender openness provides me with a diverse look at who or what influences people today. Through a series of interviews with participants and the creative process of making artwork in response to these interviews, I have explored the inspirational figures and ideas of others. I used my own interpretations of each participant's interview to create artistic pieces.
