Botanical Reverie: Radical Transcendentalism Grown from Water, Ancestry, and Light
Are we beings of light or dark?
What happens when we transcend these binaries?
What happens when we transcend these binaries?
According to my relative John Muir, Radical Transcendentalism evokes the sense that nature's phenomena are activated by our direct experience within it. Botanical Reverie aims to build a bridge between our understandings of spirituality and links them inward toward ourselves in our organic environments. This exhibition archives light, stained glass, plants, and wood to depict transformative growth, stasis, and decay in the gallery space. Harmonious with our bodies, minds, and nature, I aim to achieve the same sense of serenity as meditation does in a gallery, in a church, or in a forest. Dedicated to my family and love of living things around me, I prompt the viewer to participate in personal reflection and spread their own light as we remember the lights of those around us.
